Mystery Light Over U.S. East Coast Sparks UFO Speculation Online

A mysterious spiraling light spotted in the night sky over the eastern U.S. sparked UFO speculation, but was likely caused by a rocket launch. Witnesses reported seeing the ball of light, with a spiral shape, over New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and as far west as Ohio on Tuesday night. Photos and videos of the light led some to suggest extraterrestrial activity. However, the timing matched the United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan Centaur rocket launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida, carrying a military navigation satellite. Experts say a second rocket launch in Africa around the same time likely contributed to the unusual visual effect in the sky over the eastern United States. (UPI)
