Only One Person Can Turn On Pittsburgh Water Fountains
Pittsburgh has not yet turned on its 200 public water fountains for the summer, and only one person is qualified to do the job. Although the Department of Public Works has hired 100 new employees, only a plumber is allowed to turn on the fountains, and the department currently only has one on staff. The one plumber is also responsible for filling pools and turning on spray parks. These must be taken care of before he can start turning on water fountains. If you’re looking for a job, the department has a budget to hire two more plumbers. “I’m looking to find the money to contract out because we have to get it done,” Pittsburgh Councilman Bobby Wilson said.
