Pittsburgh Group Attempts World Record With 83,427 Cookie Exchange
A Pittsburgh Facebook group organized a massive cookie exchange involving 83,427 baked treats in a bid for a Guinness World Record. The Wedding Cookie Table Community brought together 583 bakers forming 67 teams from 14 states and New Zealand at Washington County Fairgrounds. Participants displayed all 83,427 cookies on team tables, with 73,835 cookies ultimately exchanged during the event. Laura Magone, who created The Wedding Cookie Table Community Facebook page, said all the cookies featured Christmas themes. “So you had everything decorated like snowballs and Santa Claus and reindeer, just a lot of fun,” Magone told CBS Pittsburgh. Organizers will submit documentation to Guinness World Records hoping to establish a new category for the world’s largest Christmas cookie exchange. No previous record exists for this type of event.
