Tennessee Third-Graders Create Taylor Swift Wedding Dress In STEM Project

Students at St. Mary’s Episcopal all-girls school in Memphis designed a custom wedding dress for Taylor Swift as part of a Cinderella-inspired STEM project. The third-graders completed the dress just in time for Swift’s 36th birthday on December 13th. Three classes collaborated on different components: one created a sweetheart-neckline bodice modeled after Victoria Beckham’s design, another made a tulle skirt inspired by Vera Wang, and the third designed accessories including a veil with laser-cut cat details and a hand-sewn white BabyBjörn carrier for Swift’s cats. Teacher Kristen Hehn said the project began after Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement in August, when “the cafeteria erupted with excited screams and cheers.” The project aimed to show students that “STEM doesn’t have to be big and scary,” according to Hehn.
