The Catholic Church Now Has Its First Millennial Saint
Carlo Acutis, a tech-savvy teenager who died in 2006, became the Catholic Church’s first millennial saint during Sunday’s canonization ceremony presided over by Pope Leo XIV. Acutis, born in London in 1991, died at age 15 from leukemia after using his computer skills to create websites cataloguing miracles and church teachings, earning him the nickname “God’s influencer.” He moved to Milan as a child with his culturally Catholic family and combined his digital expertise with devoted faith, attending daily Mass and helping neighborhood residents in need. The Vatican attributed two miracles to Acutis: healing a Brazilian boy with a rare illness and curing a Florence student’s head injury after loved ones prayed to him. His burial site in Assisi has attracted over one million pilgrims in the past year. (Newser)
