Vegan Cheese Yanked From Competition
A vegan cheese was yanked from a competition it was on track to win, leading some people to question: What is cheese?
The Good Food Awards was set to give the award to California’s Climax Foods’ blue cheese, but the entry was disqualified at the last minute. The cheese in question may have been disqualified for having used kokum butter in the past, which it no longer does.
At this time, the exact reason for disqualification is unclear.
“If cheese isn’t from milk, what is cheese?” Janet Fletcher of the Planet Cheese newsletter wrote. (newser)
