If passed, new Tennessee bill would stop cold beer sales
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — A new bill in Tennessee could stop businesses from selling cold or refrigerated beer.
The bill seeks to stop the retail sale of cold and refrigerated beer.
Senate Bill 2636 reads:
“Notwithstanding another law to the contrary, a person or entity holding a beer permit issued under this chapter shall not sell refrigerated or cold beer at retail.”
The bill was filed on January 31 in both the House and Senate.
Senator Paul Rose and Representative Ron Gant are the prime sponsors of this bill.
However, on February 14, Representatives withdrew the bill from the House. But it has not been withdrawn from the Senate.
It has passed first and second consideration within the Senate. The Senate has now referred the bill to the Senate State and Local Government Committee.
