Immersive Exhibit Highlights Global Poverty
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Compassion International brought its nationwide Compassion Experience tour to Ridgedale Baptist Church in Chattanooga from February 6 through February 8.
The free, family friendly exhibit invited visitors to walk through immersive rooms designed to reflect the daily realities faced by children living in extreme poverty across the globe.
The experience featured interactive displays and personal stories of real children whose lives have been directly impacted through Compassion’s child development programs and partnerships with churches.
Visitors learned about challenges such as lack of access to clean water, health care, education, and proper nutrition. These issues affect millions of children worldwide.
According to UNICEF and the World Bank, more than 356 million children globally live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than 2 dollars and 15 cents a day.
Children are more than twice as likely as adults to live in poverty, and mortality rates are significantly higher for children in impoverished conditions.
Compassion International works with thousands of local churches in 29 countries, providing long term support to more than two million children.
Organization leaders say these partnerships allow churches to serve as stable, trusted centers of hope within their communities.
Event organizers said the goal of the Compassion Experience was to raise awareness in the Chattanooga community while encouraging people to take action in addressing global poverty.
The exhibit is part of a nationwide tour designed to connect people with the stories of children whose lives have been transformed through Compassion’s programs.
