Incline Railway on track to open next month

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- CARTA CEO Charles Frazier gave an update on the repair progress of the Incline Railway.

The Incline Railway has been closed since December due to wildfire damage.

That fire according to the National Park Service occurred due to a rockslide.

All of the cable, rail, and timber on the incline had to be replaced.

Frazier says they have reached a major milestone in the repairs.

He said, “That was the biggest life of the project, was getting that rail, the burnt ties out. Getting the new rail timbers on. But now we’re at an exciting time. We’re installing the new cable system.”

The Incline is scheduled to reopen in one month on July 14th.
