Indoor water coaster planned for Wilderness at the Smokies
Sevierville attraction announces major upgrade for next season
SEVIERVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Wilderness at the Smokies has big plans for the 15th anniversary next year.
They are celebrating with a major expansion of their Wild WaterDome.
The Seiverville resort attraction already boasts multiple water parks and the largest indoor waterpark in Tennessee.
But next year, the Wild WaterDome is expanding.
It will include a new, three story water coaster called Switchback Mountain.
The ride will have 3 steep drops, uphill blasts, high speeds and the world’s first slide with “Reverse AquaLucent” effects.
“To get riders’ adrenaline pumping, the water coaster begins with a heart-pounding 22-foot drop at 29 mph before propelling the riders up into a right hairpin turn inside the first Reverse AquaLucent section.”
The expansion will also include Forbidden Caverns Lazy River which will be a tunnel experience with LED color kaleidosocpes, mirrors and projections.
Plus they will put the Lookout Lagoon on the roof.
It will have a poll with a glass edge, a rooftop bar and grill, plus cabanas and entertainment stage.
Wilderness of the Smokies expects it to all be ready by next fall.
