Infant abandoned in yard linked to Lake County homicides, authorities searching for suspect

UPDATE:  The TBI released an update on social media, stating the 2016 white Audi A3 was found abandoned in Jackson, Tennessee.


DYER COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The TBI is investigating a chain of events that started Tuesday afternoon involving a quadruple homicide and an abandoned baby.

On July 29, 2025, around 3:11 p.m., deputies with the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) responded to a 911 call regarding an abandoned infant.

A dark-colored minivan or white SUV allegedly left a baby in its car seat in someone’s front yard on Old Highway 20 near Tigrett.

DCSO said a nearby resident saw the infant and called 911.

EMS evaluated the infant on scene, and investigators were able to identify the child.

Authorities later released on social media that they were looking to speak to:

  • 38-year-old Cortney Rose
  • 21-year-old Matthew Wilson
  • 20-year-old Adrianna Williams.

All three individuals listed above were later found dead in Lake County, in addition to 15-year-old Braydon Williams.

The TBI has identified the primary suspect as 29-year-old Austin Robert Drummond.

Drummond is wanting on several charges, including first degree murder and kidnapping.

The TBI described him as 5 foot 10 inches tall, about 190 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes, and a goatee.

Authorities also note that his appearance may have been altered.

He’s suspected to be driving a 2016 Audi A3 with the Tennessee license plate RI01896.

The TBI says the car has damage to the drivers side.

Drummond is to be considered armed and dangerous.
