CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Salvation Army of Cleveland is making a change to its Inman Coffee ministry.

Inman Coffee’s physical building paused operations on Friday, May 24.

It will move forward with a mobile coffee truck starting on June 3. It will be parked at 3400 Keith Street NW in Cleveland.

The coffee truck will operate from 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Salvation Army said it will also be available for hire for events during evenings and weekends.

Inman Coffee has always been about ministry first and foremost,” said Sergeant Ruth Forgey, Corps Administrator in Cleveland. “Our foundation in The Salvation Army is rooted in street-level engagement, inspired by William Booth’s early work preaching the Good News on the streets of East London. We believe that transitioning to a mobile coffee truck allows us to better reach and serve our community directly where they are.”

The Salvation Army said it will use the space to expand operations for its growing youth programs.

“We are thrilled to have more room to accommodate our expanding youth initiatives, including our Thursday night School of Excellence program,” added Sgt. Forgey. “This program offers classes in culinary arts, musical instruments, and drama for students in grades 5 through 12. These programs are donor-supported and available at no cost to local youth.”

Additionally, the shop’s current location will remain available for rent for special events to serve the community.

The Salvation Army did not say if it will resume operations in the coffee shop’s building in the future.

Inman Coffee has been serving the youth and young adults in the Cleveland community since 2011.
