Inmate Dies in HCSO Custody
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating an in-custody inmate death.
On Friday, December 26, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Corrections Deputies discovered an unresponsive inmate during a welfare check in the Bravo housing unit, according to the HCSO.
CPR and life-saving measures were taken by personnel, but Brazell was ultimately pronounced dead after being taken to a local medical facility.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will conduct the investigation under Hamilton County District Attorney Coty Wamp’s direction.
All findings will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review, according to the HCSO.
This incident remains under investigation.
