Interactive Wargame Engages Visitors at Chickamauga Battlefield
This weekend, history came to life in a unique way in Fort Oglethorpe
At the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center,
history buffs became commanders in a 3-hour, interactive wargame.
Participants took charge of Federal and Confederate forces,
making key decisions and rolling dice to determine the battle.
“I think one of the great ways to learn is by participating and staying active, and a miniature game like this allows our visitors to engage in their learning. It’s a huge benefit. One of the great things about this program is that Chickamauga is mostly wooded, making it hard to get a sense of the entire battlefield. A program like this helps our visitors see the bigger picture,” said Luke Dixon with Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park.
Whether they were history enthusiasts or newcomers to historical wargaming, participants had a chance to view the Battle of Chickamauga like never before.
