Investigators release new photos of Dalton church fire
ATLANTA, Ga. (WDEF) – Georgia’s Insurance and Safety Fire commissioner has issued new photos from a Whitfield County church arson investigation.
We reported last week that investigators say it happened last Wednesday night before midnight at Cove Baptist Fellowship. It is located on Carbondale Road in Dalton.
“Upon investigation, a device resembling a Molotov cocktail was found in the remains of the fire,” said Commissioner John King. “Thankfully, no parties were injured, and the building only suffered minor damage from the fire. While a suspect has not been identified, our investigators are working tirelessly to identify the person behind this attack. Anyone with information on this fire should call the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-252-5804.”
News crews were not allowed inside the church because it was a crime scene.
But the new photos show a pew was burned in the fire.
The State Fire Investigations Unit is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects.
