IRS launches direct file pilot for Tennesseans
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Tennesseans are now eligible to use the new IRS Direct File.
This is a new service that allows taxpayers to electronically file their federal tax return directly with the IRS for free.
Folks can launch this program on a cell phone, laptop, tablet or desktop computer.
Only 12 states, including Tennessee, are eligible for the Direct File pilot.
“It is a pilot for us to be able to let taxpayers file directly with the Internal Revenue Service as an additional option to the other filing options that they already have,” said IRS Spokesperson, Stacy Engle.
This new service is available until the tax filing deadline of April 15, 2024.
