Jacksonville State Defeats UTC 9-2

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Chattanooga softball battled throughout the afternoon but an early offensive surge by Jacksonville State proved decisive in a 9–2 loss Wednesday at Jim Frost Stadium.

Jacksonville State scored three runs in the first inning and added six more in the second to build an early cushion. Chattanooga responded with a two‑run second inning and settled in defensively for the remainder of the game, holding the Gamecocks scoreless over the final five frames.

The Mocs’ offense was highlighted by Zoe Wright, who went 2-for-3 at the plate, and Ava Cowart, who collected two hits and drove in a run. Jade Gainer added a hit and scored during Chattanooga’s second‑inning rally, while Abi Pikas also recorded an RBI.

Chattanooga scored its two runs in the bottom of the second inning after a series of quality at‑bats kept the pressure on the Gamecocks. The Mocs finished the contest with six hits and left six runners on base.

UTC hits the road for its final road series of the season, a three-game stand at UNC Greensboro with a double header Thursday and the final game on Sunday.
