Jada Cooper Helping Baylor Field One of the Top Soccer Teams in the Country

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Baylor girls soccer team is ranked number one in the country according to Max Preps. One reason the Lady Raiders are among the best in the nation has been the play of Jada Cooper. News 12’s Brian Armstrong has more on Baylor’s talented senior.

Baylor girls soccer is undefeated this season, and leading the charge is senior Jada Cooper.
Said Cooper:”I think our chemistry is good on and off the field, and it doesn’t matter how old you are.”
You can be really young and you can be the oldest on the team, and we just get along so well.
Said head coach Curtis Blair:”First thing is her work rate. Her work rate is unbelievable. She comes every single day, the training gets better, and then in games we feel like every game she’s gotten better and better. So she just brings that passion of wanting to get better and also bringing her teams. I think she makes all of her teammates better as well.”
Cooper seemingly fills the stat sheet with goals and assists. Nearly every game.
Said Blair:”She puts herself in the right spot at the right moment, and she just keeps finding the right moment to get in, or the right moment to show to feet. But she also makes the players around her so much better. The other thing is, she can finish, like when she gets her opportunities, man, she puts in the back of the net, which is awesome for us.”

Cooper:”Practiced a lot, study each other up, finishing our opportunities. And in the game it just kind of translates, but also, like in the crosses, finding my teammates, and it’s just like an easy goal.”

One goal this season does stand out to Cooper.

Said Cooper:”The best goal was the one against UCS, and I beat the defender, and then I was trying to cross it, but it hit the back post and it went in on the back net. So that was a good goal to watch on film.”
Despite all of her success, Cooper is quick to spread the praise around.
Said Blair:”She is team oriented. It’s more about Baylor. It’s not about her. It’s not about how many goals she scores or assists. It’s about how the team does. And that’s why she’s one of our captains, because she’s put Baylor above every other goal that she’s had.”
Said Cooper:”I think us just work together as a team at the beginning of the game and at the end, we are always working with each other.”
