CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A man convicted in the 2022 murder of a young woman on the Chattanooga Northshore is asking again for a retrial.

Jason Chen was convicted last year of first degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of 22 year old Jasmine Pace by a Nashville based jury in less than an hour.

Prosecutors during his trial presented evidence that he stabbed Pace 60 times, and then left her body inside of a suitcase on the banks of the Tennessee River.

A motion hearing for a retrial was initially scheduled for today, but has been pushed to April according to Hamilton County Criminal Court Records.

This is not Chen’s first attempt at a retrial, as in a motion filed by his attorney after the verdict argued that his conviction was not supported by the evidence in the case.
