Josh Heupel Praises Young Chattanooga Talent on Big Orange Caravan Stop in the Scenic City
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Big Orange Caravan tour rolled into the Scenic City Wednesday.
Football coach Josh Heupel hopes his team can get on a roll this fall, with the help of some young Chattanooga talent.
Said Heupel “I would not say that this program resembles what it was when we got here day one.”
Tennessee Vols head football coach Josh Heupel made a stop in Chattanooga as part of the Big Orange Caravan. And recognize players like McCallie’s Carson Gentle and Bradley Central’s Marcus Goree
and Boo Carter.
Said Heupel:”Really excited about that group and them being a part of our Tennessee football program. Boo had a great spring, dynamic playmaker, has a great feel for the game, can process a lot of information extremely quickly. He’s violent, he’s physical, he’s continuing to grow.”
Carter is already making a name for himself, but Coach Heupel stresses that he needs to take the next step during this time of year.
Said Heupel:””Love the spring that he had the challenge for him. Just like all of our guys. This is the middle part of our, of our off season. There’s a lot of growth that’s got to take place here throughout the course of summer and in training camp.”
Tennessee has come a long way under coach from where it was to where it is now.
Said Heupel:”We’ve had to come through a lot of adversity in particular that first year. Um, I think we handled it extremely well.”
Which showed itself last week as Tennessee had three players drafted, making it 13 the past three season, which brings back old Rocky top memories from the early to mid two thousands.
Said Heupel:”When a guy makes a play on Saturday, it feels better than when you made a play on Saturday as a, as a player. And uh, the same is true when guys get a chance to be drafted to sign, it doesn’t matter when doesn’t matter where I encourage all those guys to enjoy the draft weekend. And I say that because I probably didn’t enjoy it as much as I should have.”
