UNITED STATES (WDEF) — JPMorgan Chase, a multinational bank, settled a lawsuit with victims of Jeffrey Epstein last week.

The settlement, which was filed on June 12, totaled $290 million.

An Epstein victim accused the bank of being the financial channel which allowed sex trafficking operations to continue.

Jeffrey Epstein gave regular business advice to a JPMorgan executive, Jes Staley, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Staley left the company in 2013.

They added that Epstein aided him in personal matters as well, including helping Staley’s daughter apply for a Ph.D. program.

This lawsuit was filed in November. Another similar suit is underway in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In a newer lawsuit, the Virgin Islands accuse JPMorgan of ignoring red flags regarding Epstein’s behavior.

Officials pronounced Epstein dead in 2019. His partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, is in prison after being sentenced to 20 years for aiding Epstein in his crimes.
