Juan Galindrez Becomes Red Wolves All Time Leading Goal Scorer

East Ridge, TN-(WDEF-TV) The Chattanooga Red Wolves are midway through their season and already have a new club record holder. News 12’s Angela Moryan has the story.

Angie: “What has he provided the club over the years that has been unmatched from any other player?”

Jimmy Obleda: “Goals – plain and simple.”

Juan Galindrez has earned his nickname GaliGol. He’s scored 18 goals during his time with Chattanooga — making him the Red Wolves all-time leading goal scorer.

Said head coach Jimmy Obleda: “It’s a gift, because scoring goals is not for everyone. I mean, you have a lot of forwards that get themselves in position and they just can’t. I mean, he could be looking one way and the ball bounce another and it hits his head and it’s going in. I mean, it’s a gift.”

Said Galindrez: “It’s a gift that I receive from God, and I just come out here and do what I practice and train to be the best.”

GaliGol’s scored seven times this season — that’s just one behind the league’s best. And that’s *with missing the first part of the season.

Angie: “It the blonde hair the secret?”

Said Galindrez: “*laughs* Si …. I have a friend that I really look up to that has the same hair, and she has a very mystic, faithful energy about her, and I think the blonde hair encapsulates what she gives me.”

Said Obleda: “One of the biggest things I think this year that’s he’s really brought is that he’s able to play a full 90-95 mintues. Last year, I think also the depth that we had was a little different, where he would come in and last 20 minutes, but one thing that we really forced him to think about was how he’s going to play for 95 minutes and he’s been able to do that.”

Said Galindrez: “I asked Coach for more minutes, and he said yes and confided in me. I gave it my all to make sure I could stay out there because I knew that the moment I didn’t give it my all, Coach would pull me right back out, so I had to make sure I could give the fans the full energy that I have and give it my all.”

To prove that even more, Galindrez got a wolf tattoo on his leg — forever a part of the Wolf Pack.

Said Obleda: “When we see people grow and become better in all aspects, not just in soccer but personal, it’s very satisfying. So he’s one of those young men. I’m very happy for him, and I’m going to keep routing for him to do well.”
