Judge denies bond reduction for gang member accused of murder
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — One of the suspects in a notorious murder case in Chattanooga lost a round in court on Thursday.
Andre Grier is one of three gang members accused of killing Bianca Horton in 2016.
Horton, a 31-year-old mother, had agreed to testify against the gang leader, Cortez Sims. Horton had witnessed gang-related drive-by shooting, which paralyzed her daughter, we previously reported.
Shortly before she was scheduled to testify, Horton was killed.
Thursday, Grier’s attorney presented a motion to reduce his bond while he awaits trial. However, the judge denied that request.
Grier is scheduled to face a death penalty trial next March for the murder.
Courtney High recently took a plea deal for three separate murders, including Horton. He got a life sentence.
The third suspect accused of killing Horton died in jail from COVID complications.
