Judge sets bond at $90,000 for Chattanooga man accused of rape
Antonio roberts, 37, of Chattanooga was arrested on Monday and charged with one count of aggravated rape and false imprisonment.
According to the arrest affidavit, Chattanooga police were called to the Erlanger emergency room to investigate the allegations.
The victim told officers that while she was entertaining Roberts, he began asking her for sex and that her answer was no.
According to the victim, Roberts said, "if you don’t give it to me, I’m going to take it from you."
Roberts reportedly strangled the woman and hit her several times in the face as she fought to defend herself. The victim told officers she eventually stopped fighting back for fear that Roberts would kill her.
The victim told police that after she was raped, Roberts refused to allow her to leave his presence so she screamed for help.
According to police, both Roberts and the alleged victim showed physical signs of some type of struggle.
Roberts is being held on a $90,000 bond.
According to a WDEF News 12 background check, Roberts has multiple criminal convictions for theft and burglary.
