Jury convicts accused meth dealer of bringing in product from Atlanta

Jason Jones

RINGGOLD, Georgia (WDEF) – Prosecutors say they have stopped a drug connection between Atlanta and northwest Georgia.

A Catoosa County jury convicted Jason Earnest Jones of trafficking meth in our area.

Prosecutors say law enforcement found more than three hundred grams of the drug in his pickup, along with packaging materials.

They also found incriminating text messages on his phone.

Investigators say he admitted to bringing large amounts of the drugs to the area from Atlanta.

Based on his three prior convictions, the judge sentenced Jones to 20 years in prison.

District Attorney Clayton M. Fuller says he has made it a point of emphasis in his office to seek harsher penalties for drug dealers.

“If you’re caught trafficking over 300 grams of methamphetamine — especially with a history as a convicted drug dealer — you can bet we’re going to seek the harshest penalty the law allows. We will not let you bring that poison into our community. We will find you, we will prosecute you, and we will make sure you can’t harm our community ever again.”
