Jury in Mark Kaylor trial can’t come to a unanimous decision

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – A former Red Bank Police officer on trial for punching an unarmed suspect will have to wait another day to learn his fate.

After two days of listening to testimony from witnesses, Mark Kaylor who is the defendant and Candido Medina-Resendiz who is  man seen taking a beating in Kaylor’s dashcam video; jurors heard final statements from the prosecution and the defense.

After both sides delivered final arguments, the case was handed over the jury for deliberation, but after hours of deliberating, there was no verdict.

According to court officials, the jury could not come back with a unanimous decision so deliberation is scheduled to continue Friday morning.

Back in April of 2014, Kaylor was seen on dashcam video punching Medina-Resendiz in the head multiple times during a traffic stop.

Kaylor was later indicted on assault and official misconduct charges.
