Juveniles charged with carjacking and evading arrest

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Early Sunday morning, Chattanooga police responded to a carjacking in the 900 block of Dallas Road.

Officers responded to the carjacking at 1:31 a.m.

While on the way to the incident, a traffic crash was reported nearby on Hamilton Avenue.

A nearby CPD officer responded to the crash location.

When the officer arrived to the scene, he observed the vehicle in the carjacking.

The vehicle began to flee from the officer and he engaged in a pursuit.

The Red Bank Police Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office joined the chase.

It continued through Red Bank and back into Chattanooga.

The driver crashed the vehicle into an empty duplex in the 2300 block of Milne Street.

The passengers jumped out of the vehicle and began to run from authorities.

CPD respond to carjacking early Sunday morning and discover three juveniles as suspects.

Two juveniles were apprehended nearby by law enforcement. The teens were a 16-year-old male and a 13-year-old male.

The driver was a 15-year-old female who was also apprehended by officers as she attempted to exit the vehicle.

CPD is the lead investigative agency for this carjacking. THP is the lead agency for the traffic crash.

Preliminary investigation claims that the victim was at a gas station located at 902 Dallas Road when a suspect opened her door and pointed a gun at her.

She got out of her car due to this threat.

The suspects then got into her vehicle and left the gas station.

The juvenile suspects were arrested after the pursuit and taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.

They were charged with carjacking and evading arrest.
