Kingwood Pharmacy family retiring after 71 years
EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) – One of the longest running businesses in East Ridge is shutting its doors.
The heirs of Kingwood Pharmacy on Tuesday announce they are retiring.
Four generations have operated the business on Ringgold Road.
Tracy Parker and Skeeter Skates opened Kingwood Pharmacy in 1945.
The business grew from a soda fountain hangout to compounding drugs and selling medical equipment.
Kingwood would become the largest independent pharmacy in the southeast.
Owner Joe Musick says “our customers have become like family. It has been a pleasure and honor to serve and care for your needs and get to know you all over these many wonderful years. From the bottom of our hearts your Kingwood Family thanks you.”
Beginning on Wednesday, the pharmacy will begin discounting products until they are gone.
All prescription files and records have been transferred to Walgreens.
