Knife wielding man goes on reported rampage inside restaurant

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – A Chattanooga man is being held on $137,500 bond after reportedly walking into a Chattanooga restaurant and going on a rampage with a knife.

Lewis Dunfee, 34, of Chattanooga has been charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

According to the arrest affidavit, Dunfee entered the Kanpai of Tokyo restaurant kitchen and pulled a knife on a restaurant employee who is Hispanic. The victim told police he pulled a knife out of a drawer to defend himself Dunfee. He also told police Dunfee threatened to not only hurt him but call police on him because of his immigration status.

At some point, the two men got into a fight then Dunfee ran out the restaurant after reportedly throwing his knife and almost hitting an employee.

When police reviewed footage from the security camera, they spotted the victim running from Dunfee who was armed with a knife. They also put in their report that Dunfee was seen on video throwing his knife inside the restaurant just prior to police arriving on scene.

Police captured Dunfee as he ran out the front door.

Dunfee reportedly told an officer," They are all illegal so why should you care." He also told police,"They are always bullying me and I’m not going to be bullied any more."
