Lady Mocs Stun Another Top Ten Team With Upset of 7th Ranked Stanford

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – Chelsey Shumpert scored a career-high 18 points, including five 3-pointers, as Chattanooga stunned No. 7 Stanford 54-46 Wednesday for its second home victory over a top-10 opponent this season.
Chattanooga (7-3) won despite being held without a basket after Keiana Gilbert had given the Mocs a 44-34 lead with 11:26 remaining. The Mocs went 7 of 8 on free throws in the last 50 seconds to seal the victory.
Moses Johnson added 10 points off the bench for Chattanooga. Jasmine Joyner had nine points and 11 rebounds.
Lili Thompson scored nine points to lead Stanford (6-3), which shot just 28 percent.
The Mocs pulled their latest stunner three weeks after producing a 67-63 upset of No. 11 Tennessee, which was ranked fourth during their Nov. 26 meeting. Chattanooga has won 43 of its last 44 home games.
Neither team shot the ball well, particularly in the second half. The Cardinal hit 1 of 10 three-pointers in the final 20-minutes. They shot just 27.7 percent for the game.
UTC took a ten point lead with 11:26 to play on a basket by Keinana Gilbert. It proved to be their final field goal of the game.

Lady Mocs cliched the win at the foul line. They were 11 of 13 from the charity stripe on the night.
