Lafayette Blogger Continues To Shine

LAFAYETTE, Georgia (WDEF) – In this day and age, many people have their own personal “blogs.” For a variety of reasons. On a variety of subjects.

But seldom do you find someone who has overcome so much, and been so greatly recognized, in such a relatively short period of time.

He’s 31 year old Cory Lee. Just recently, Cory became a three time “Webby Award” winner. That’s like three Oscars. Or three Emmy’s.

The Webby’s, like all of his other awards, are because of his blog. Curb Free.

His goal is to inform and inspire others who face challenges. Specifically those in a wheelchair.

Cory’s been in one since he was four years old.

“To be honest, I didn’t fully embrace my disability until I started the blog. And I started traveling around the world.”

Key word: world. Since starting his blog in 2013, Cory has been to 37 countries. All seven continents. With his partner, his Mom, Sandy.

Back in ’13, Cory came to realize there was not a lot of information on-line about accessibility for the challenged. So he started his own blog.

And then, after a speaking engagement in LA in 2015…….

“……after that is when it took off. I had a feature in the LA Times. Then I won a few awards. And then everything took off with a lot more opportunities.”

Most of the money for Cory’s trips comes from the destination itself. He’s ridden camels in the Sahara Desert. He’s ridden a hot air balloon in Spain.

Because of the pandemic, his travels this past year have been in the USA. But Cory says there’s nothing wrong with that.

“You don’t have to hop on a plane to have an incredible travel experience. There are a lot of amazing experiences right here in the Chattanooga area!”

Cory say’s he’s really not surprised that his blog is so popular. Because so many people need the information….that he provides.

So he’ll keep at it…….rolling right along!

By the way, Cory’s next trip overseas will be in Chile in 2022.
