LaFayette’s Trinity Bell Helps Inspire the Chattanooga Red Wolves

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF-TV) – The Chattanooga Red Wolves had a very special guest at practice a few weeks ago — one whose story has been quite inspiring for the Wolf Pack. News 12’s Angela Moryan has the story.

Said Red Wolves player Carlos Avilez: “After the situations she’s going through, it was a great experience to have her here.”

Lafayette’s Trinity Bell was the guest of honor at a Chattanooga Red Wolves practice. A die-hard Wolves fan – she’s at every game – even as she’s fighting her own battle.

Bell has a rare disease that requires a blood transfusion every three weeks. She now awaits a bone marrow transplant, as her three year fight continues.

Said head coach Jimmy Obleda: “You win. You lose. Sometimes you go through those things, but there are people going through things that sometimes we need to be reminded of.”

Said Avilez: “Even through tough times, those supporters are always there. A girl like Trinity, that’s always there, and every time after a game, she’s always saying, ‘Hey good game.’ Even though you lost, you drew, whatever, you conceded a goal, she’s always there. She’s always with that big smile.”

Soccer has always been Bell’s passion. She got to be a part of the action – in goal at practice.

Said Bell: “Everyone was really nice and welcoming, and I had a ball out there doing the drills.”

Said Avilez: “She was taking some shots on goal, and I saw her make some quite some good saves. … Seeing her smile even after a mistake or something, it was amazing.”

Said Obleda: “Sometimes you never know what you’re going to get in those situations, but it was like, ‘What the heck is going on here? She can save! She can play!’ So yeah, it was pretty cool, it was pretty cool. …. She’s here. She’s fighting and she’s doing everything, so I think the inspiration comes not necessarily just by being in soccer, but by winning. You’re getting through this. Almost in a lot of ways, we learn from people like that because they teach you things. … I think sometimes they help us more and affect us more than we do them.”

Said Avilez: “Just keep going Trinity. We always got you, and we appreciate your support.”
