Lake Winnie Awarded Historic Plaque

ROSSVILLE, GA. (WDEF) – Lake Winnepesaukah just earned a national honor.

On Sunday, July 27th, the National Amusement Park Historical Association presented the Chattanooga-area amusement park with a commemorative plaque recognizing 100 years of family ownership and community fun.

The award was part of NAPHA’s annual ParkHop tour, which celebrates historic amusement parks around the country.

Since opening in 1925, Lake Winnie has remained under the guidance of the same family, making it the second longest continuously family-owned amusement park in the United States.

To mark the moment, attendees enjoyed exclusive ride time on the park’s iconic Cannonball coaster and rare Boat Chute before the official presentation at 1 PM.

Lake Winnie now joins a prestigious group of only 18 amusement parks nationwide to be honored for reaching the 100-year milestone.
