Lake Winnie security guard convicted of attempted molestation of female co-workers
The underage girls reported inappropriate touching and comments
RINGGOLD, Georgia (WDEF) – A former security guard at a local amusement park has been convicted of Attempted Child Molestation.
Last summer, a a young girl told authorities that Lake Winnepesaukah security guard Carlos Fenelli had touched her inappropriately and made inappropriate comments to her.
The investigation found three other female victims, all of them worked with Fenelli at the park.
The amusement park fired him after the allegations were made.
The Dalton man was convicted this week of attempted molestation and sentenced to four years in prison.
District Attorney Chris Arnt praised the victims for coming forward with their stories.
“The brave actions of these victims to come forward enabled us to stop this offender before he was able to do any further harm to these or other girls.”
But a mother of one of the victims had harsh words for how the park handled the situation.
“We are pleased with how quick and effectively this problem was solved in the Catoosa County legal system. We are disappointed Lake Winnie didn’t report these offenses to police. Sex offenders shouldn’t be protected in that way. Ultimately, we are just glad it’s over.”
