Last New Flag on Veterans Bridge Raised Thursday
(WDEF) The last new flag on Veterans Bridge got raised Thursday.
After the long-time donor of new flags for Veterans Bridge had to opt out of the $40,000 a year commitment…Chattanoogans stepped up to honor their loved ones.
The City allowed people to buy a new flag for the bridge to remember a veteran in their life.
Today the last new flag was raised and a celebration was held in the sculpture garden.
Daughter of a veteran Ann Coulter said, "When we heard that the city was going to lose the flags, that people had kind of stepped forward to provide flags in honor of a loved one, a veteran, we just thought that was a great idea: to honor, my dad."
Each person who bought a flag for the bridge to honor a loved one who served got an official certificate of appreciation with their loved ones’ names.
