Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony happening this Friday

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The 2024 Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 17.

The ceremony is meant to honor law enforcement officers in our area who died in the line of duty.

The event, co-hosted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and Chattanooga Police Department, will begin at 10 a.m. It will take place at the Hamilton County Law Enforcement Memorial, which is located at 600 Market Street.

HCSO Skilled Craftsman Michael C. Webb had the solemn privilege of installing a new plaque on the Hamilton County Law Enforcement Memorial Wall honoring one of our community’s fallen law enforcement heroes.

Judge Tom Greenholtz will be the key-note speaker.

So far this year, 58 officers have been killed in the line of duty in the U.S. In 2023, 137 officers died in the line of duty, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.

Event organizers ask the community to attend the event and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
