Leading sock maker in Fort Payne announces layoffs
FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – A Fort Payne plant should begin laying off workers this week.
Renfro Brands makes socks and legwear.
They have filed notice of plans to lay off a hundred workers over all.
The company says they are keeping the Fort Payne plant open, but altering their shifts.
Renfro Brands was bought out by the Renco Group almost three years ago.
They have been the largest sock company left in Fort Payne that was once called the Sock capital of the world.
