FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga. (WDEF)- Fort Oglethorpe youths have a new spot to hang out after school.

Lift Youth Center has opened a new facility on Battlefield Parkway, named for R. Randall Collins, as it has operated since the beginning of this school year.

The center is inside a former church, and provides a gym, play room, and library among other resources.

It is LIFT’s second facility in Catoosa County, joining a center in Ringgold, as borth serves nearly 100 kids on average per day.

The goal of the center is to help give children in need a safe space to be that place.

One student, named KJ, said, “As soon as I came in, like I was saying at first, they all treated me the same and practiced what they taught. It’s very good here. I actually really like it. I wish to keep coming here until I am out of school.”

LIFT says their next goal is to expand their Ringgold facility.
