Lightning Strike Causes House and Gas Line Fire

Hixson, Tn (WDEF) – An early morning lightning strike caused a house fire in Hixson. At 6:20 am, neighbors called 911 reporting the hit. The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded to 6912 Hampton Woods Drive where they found an exposed gas line with fire, a house fire, and a tree fire.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze after two homes were damaged. The gas company let the gas line burn off to avoid an explosion hazard.

No injuries were reported.
