Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association to Commemorate Centennial
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association is inviting the community to join in commemorating the 100th anniversary of Chattanooga’s historic Lincoln Park.
The two day celebration will take place on Friday, September 7th, and Saturday, September 8th. Admission starts at $25.
On September 7th, from 7pm to 11pm, at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center, there will be a celebratory fundraiser, featuring food and musical performances. The lineup includes YGB, Spoonz, Kemo, Keelah Jackson, Natural Habitz, Zowie, DJ Dee, DJ Sleepy and DJ Touch.
Day two, on September 8th, from noon to 6pm, festival-goers may enjoy the centennial race, double dutch, hula hoop competition, golf games, vendors and more. Saturday’s musical lineup includes, Floami Fly, Kay B Brown, Marcus Ellsworth, Caleb the Poet, and Kimmy J. Soul, among other artists.
Lincoln Park was dedicated to the African-American community in 1918. It was a popular, safe place for all ages during the Jim Crow-era, offering recreation in baseball, tennis, basketball and swimming.
