Local areas receive infrastructure grants from state of Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Local areas are receiving Infrastructure Planning Grants (IPG) from the state of Tennessee.

Governor Bill Lee made the announcement Thursday, January 23, 2025.

The IPG program aims at funding utility systems that serve distressed counties and rural communities on the financially distressed utility system referral list.

The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) is awarding $7.4 million dollars in funding to 36 applicants.

 “Efficient utility infrastructure is crucial to economic development.  I thank the General Assembly for funding this program and commend the 36 grantees for stepping up to help our communities strengthen local infrastructure and plan for the future.”
