Local Cosmetology School Pampers Cancer Survivors
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Today is National Cancer Survivor Beauty and Support Day and the students at Chattanooga’s Virginia College’s cosmetology school participated by offering free services to cancer survivors.
The campus offered complimentary haircuts, makeovers, manicures, and pedicures.
School officials say V’s Student Cosmetology Services has been hosting the event for several years.
They say it’s a great way to give back to the community.
“The patients they have been through a lot. so just for them to come here and feel good and also for the students to interact with the public and get their hands on experience,” said Naya Mitchell.
One of the school’s employees, Stacey Miller, is a cancer survivor.
She says being a part of this event means so much to her.
“It kind of gives me chill bumps because I just went through my battle with cancer last year. It gives us a chance to do something for people who go through a tough time going through treatments everyday for months on end. It kind of gives you a chance to relax and be pampered,” said Stacey Miller.
The school accepts walk-ins and appointments.
