Local family-owned restaurant set to close after repeated break ins

Harrison, Tenn. (WDEF) – A Hamilton County restaurant is looking to close its doors, after taking a hit from recent break ins.

Owner Jim Johnson of JC’s Family BBQ in Harrison says his family restaurant has been broken into three times in the last two months, and he’s lost thousands of dollars from cash and items taken, and from damage.

The Navy veteran says it’s now getting too hard to make up for the losses, so he plans to close next month.

The restaurant has been in business for four years, and Johnson says he enjoys the people here the most.

“Being a small family business in a small community, you know, you like to feel, our customers are our friends, our neighbors, and all of our children have grown up together, so I mean it’s tough, you know. It’s a tough decision to make,” says Jim Johnson, the owner.

His daughter, Christina Johnson, works at the restaurant. She says, “It’s my mom’s dream, and it hurts that it’s come down to this ’cause I want her to be happy, and I know she’s the happiest when she’s making other people happy by cooking their food.”

Johnson says right now, the restaurant’s last day open will be December 24th, unless a miracle happens.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the break-ins.
