CHATTANOOGA/DALTON (WDEF) – Local firefighters will mark the anniversary of 9/11 on Sunday.

In Chattanooga, the annual Memorial Stair Climb will be at the Lookouts AT&T Field.

It starts with a ceremony open to the public at 8:30.

Then firefighters dressed in full gear will join participants in climbing 110 floors worth of stairs or walk 3.45 miles around the field.

The climb and walk honor what first responders did at the Trade Center Towers.

343 firefighters were lost on 9/11.

Proceeds from the event will go to local first responders.

If you want to take part in the stair climb or walk, they ask you to register here. Registration will be open up until the opening ceremonies Sunday morning.

Dalton firefighters will also mark the anniversary on Sunday.

They will hold their memorial stair climb at 10 AM at the BB&T parking deck downtown.
