Local Gamers Hacked
It’s all fun and games until your gaming system stops working.
Local gamer dennis floyd says the timing couldnt be worse.
"It started yesterday morning," says local gamer Dennis Floyd.
Sony’s Playstation Network and Microsoft’s x-box live Online Network were both hacked, leaving kids and parents disappointed.
"My son got an X-box one so we went in his bedroom to hook it up and no server," says Floyd.
This also comes the same day as the controversial movie, "The Interview" was released.
Government officials claim the attack is retaliation against Microsoft and Sony for the movie’s release, but local gamers say they’re the ones paying the price.
"I don’t understand why they have to mess with the kids on Christmas Day. They’re putting everybody in such a bind, all the money they’ve spent all because of one movie. It just makes no sense," says Floyd.
"They’re not losing anything, we’re the ones losing and I think that’s wrong," says local gamer Michael Jordan.
Both gamers say the hack has taken a toll on their families.
"That’s our way of bonding," says Floyd.
"Tempers flare up. I get aggravated real quick over it. He’ll get aggravated real quick over it," says Jordan.
Neither Microsoft nor Sony have given a reason for the connectivity issues.
Jordan says he contacted the Playstation headquarters.
"It’s like you’re getting the run around. They keep telling you there’s nothing they can do about it and that they’re for some reason not getting connected to the system," says Jordan.
Friday morning, Microsoft officials were able to restore connection to the X-box Live Network, but according to Playstation’s official Twitter page, their problems are still unresolved.
Playstation officials tweeted, "No ETA available yet but our team is working to fix it as soon as possible, thank you for your patience."
"I think Sony needs to fix their problem real quick because there’s going to be a lot of aggravated people out there if they don’t," says Jordan.
