Local high school students debate for scholarships
The tournament will consist of two qualifying rounds leading up to a final debate. The day will conclude at 4 pm with the announcement of the scholarship winners following the final debate. Up to five recurring scholarships to UTC will be awarded to the top students. Among these awards are scholarships in honor of Robert Fisher, Rhodes Scholar, and Judge Curtis Collier, Senior United States District Judge.
The winning school will receive an award named after Judge Walter F. Williams, former Chattanooga City Judge.
The tournament is put on in an effort to provide students with a platform to develop and showcase their skill sets. The event is hosted by the Chattanooga chapter of the Links Incorporated, the Southeast Center for Education in the Arts, The UTC Chancellor’s Multicultural Advisory Council, and sponsored by the UTC Theatre Co. and the Office of Equity and Diversity.
