HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The spooky holiday is upon us, and that means trick or treaters will be on the prowl this evening.

Local law enforcement have posted statements, providing safety tips to keep the ghouls and goblins out of harm’s way.

Chattanooga Police (CPD) gave a list of six things to keep in mind during Halloween activities:

1.   Stay Visible! Use flashing bike lights, glow sticks, or reflective tape on your candy bag to ensure drivers can see you from a distance.
2.   Walk, Don’t Run! Running in or alongside the road can make it hard for drivers to see you.  Drivers, please slow down and be extra cautious in neighborhoods—kids can be unpredictable on Halloween.
3.   Stay Alert! Keep your phone down and stay aware of your surroundings. Follow all traffic signs and rules.
4.   Stick Together! Always walk in groups and never enter a stranger’s home or car.
5.   Mask Safety! If your mask obstructs your vision, don’t hesitate to take it off so you can stay aware.
6.   Party Smart! If you’re heading to a Halloween party, make sure you have a designated driver.
Both CPD and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office wish everyone a happy Halloween, and advise everyone to stay safe with participating in ghostly activities!
