Local Law Firm Creates Smart Phone App to aid accident victims
New app takes the stress out of what to do in the event of a car crash
CHATTANOOGA, TN – The moments after a car crash can be some of the most stressful times of your life because you don’t know what to do. You don’t know how to handle it. A new local law firm has developed an app that will help you reduce panic, and potentially save you time and money later.
Brent Burks and his partner announced they’d be developing an app to take the stress out of accidents.
“Well, along with my law partner, about a little over a year ago, the city of Chattanooga made an announcement that they’re going to stop responding to all the traffic crashes that are out there. And they’ve got some very finite rules about if it’s on the interstate, they’ll respond or if there are serious injuries. There’s so many that they’re not. In our whole civil justice system, when it comes down to car wrecks, it depends on information gathering,” says Burks.
“The vast majority of wrecks, somebody is hit, somebody runs a stop sign or somebody rear ends somebody. And they don’t know what to do. And that’s where this app comes in, step by step. And it is so easy. And so we like to tell people it’ll ask you about the other vehicles. Is anybody hurt? Do you need 911. Can you get photographs so you can load the photograph there into the app? It’s going to be perfect for people if they’re trying to deal with an insurance company to have this electronic file with the name, the insurance information, the address, photographs of the vehicles. All in this nice little file that you can either send or a lawyer later, or you can deal with an insurance company on your own if you choose to do so.”
Most importantly, it gives you instructions because in that moment of panic, unless you’re a 911 operator and you can stay cool all the time, it’s going to give you this is what I do. There’s a place for photos, insurance information, and even witness information if there are any. The app is designed to make the claims process go much smoother for you if your accident does not involve police officers. You can install the app and set it up for your children, yourself, and your elderly parents.
Brent tells us “It’s just it’s a no brainer. And look for the green checkmark, Crash Companion and it’s free. I really don’t understand why they wouldn’t download it. Right? Spend some time, play with it, put the information in there about their loved one. They won’t contact it in an emergency and be ready to roll in case that bad thing happens.”
