Local lawyer reacts to Georgia High School shooting

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- “Georgia law is pretty specific,” said Attorney Robin Flores, Attorney at Law. 

 The father of the accused school shooter in Winder Georgia now faces murder charges as well.

 ” You are just as guilty, according to Georgia law, as if you pull the trigger,” said Flores. 

 Defense attorney Flores explains how the father of the suspect is liable for the school shooting. 

 “Liability cannot be avoided if it was foreseeable the third party would misuse the weapon,’ said Flores,”I mean, that is critical, and that is probably what comes into play here.” 

 School threats have been on the rise not only in Georgia, but also in Hamilton County for the past month.  

 Flores believes the consequences of these threats will only get more severe. 

 ” Ithink there is going to be much a more severe push from school system and from law enforcement, from the district attorney and prosecutors. this is probably rightly so given  what has happened in Winder,” Flores said. 

Flores states what should parents who own guns do.

 “If you have good firearms. You better make sure you got them secured, because it will fall back on you and if you make it where Johnny Joe or Susie Q can get to it you can expect to be held liable,” Flores concluded.
