Local Navy representative reacts to purple hearts for Fallen Five

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The five soldiers who tragically lost their lives during the July 16th shootings are now being awarded the Purple Heart.

Lieutenant Commander Timothy White was present at the Naval Reserve center on July 16th.

He is one of many that are happy the fallen heroes are receiving the award.

LCDR Timothy White says, "The Navy and the Government are recognizing the sacrifice of the service members and the sacrifice that their families have made and continue to make and recognizing them as heroes; and while that decision doesn’t bring the heroes back, it brings some solace to those that have lost our friends."
